I can't believe I have a show tonight (recap: If anyone's interested in going, music begins at 8PM and the shows begin at 8:30. Please call Athenian Corner directly at 978-458-7052 to make a reservation. The Athenian Corner is located at 207 Market Street in Lowell, MA. I've eaten there before and the food is delicious. I'll probably be there around 7pm myself, though I'll be changing and stuff.). Though having lugged two full costumes to work on the T this morning ought to make me believe it. One coin costume (w/ real coins) and one glass bead costume in the same bag along with assorted shoes, robe, makeup, etc are awfully heavy. Getting the shoulder strap to my shoulder was a two-stage process, and I'm not a frail lady. I guess I can look at it as my morning workout... but I've got to get a little rolling suitcase!

It took me as long to get from my house to Alewife this morning as it did for me to then get from Alewife to Kenmore. That is not at all right, especially since much of the house to Alewife commute was spent waiting for the bus. I couldn't put my (did I mention it was heavy) bag down because the stupid apartment building located at the bus stop doesn't clear its sidewalks and it still has snow on it from earlier in the week. I was not a happy person.

It's been a wierd week thus far. Ronan had some gastrointestinal disturbances Monday into Tuesday which had us worried, but he seems to have perked up. The current theory is that he ate something off the floor (chocolate, maybe) that disagreed with him. Last night he was romping around with Seti, though, so all seems to be well. Seti is officially the big ferret in the house again, now that Ronan's down to his proper weight. This is a little bit of a revelation for Ronan when they wrestle--he was used to being able to pin down Seti, but that tends to backfire now. Seti always was quicker and more agile and stronger, and now he's heavier too. Luckily he's also one of the most goodnatured ferrets you'd ever hope to meet, so it's not payback time for Ronan :-)

Seti invented a new yoga asana yesterday--I rolled out my mat, which was so exciting that he sprang into the middle of the mat and performed Upward Leaping Ferret. It's a very advanced posture but someday I hope to master it. In the meanwhile, I am thrilled that I can move from down dog into a lunge without having to grab my calf and move the front leg up to the right place. Well, only on the right side for now, but that's good progress. I continue to marvel at what one can do if one only has the patience and commitment. (on a side note, I subscribe to Yoga Journal--at first because Salon gave it to me for free, but now i actually pay for it since many of the articles are helpful. It never fails to slightly repulse me though to read this magazine all dedicated to improving one's life through yogic practice and seeing all the ads for *stuff*, not just things like mats and props and clothing but also for gold ohm necklaces, designer fountains, fancy clothing--in a way, it sums up Occidentalism ever so well. Of course you want to achieve enlightenment through the exotic practice of the Other, but it's not enough to do it just for yourself, you have to make sure everyone knows you're doing it through your ostentatious status symbols of enlightenment.)
