Blue jays sound like home to me. Specifically, they sound like home in fall and winter. I don't think there were jays in sigificant numbers anywhere else I've lived, or they just didn't hang around in my neighborhoods. It's interesting how even in an urban environment, a thing of nature can anchor one geographically.
