I am one of the featured dancers in a benefit for the Central New England Chapter of the National MS Society, Bellydance Against MS. There will be peformances by Badriya (me!), Dorothea, the Goddess Dancing Troupe, Morgana, Nefertiti, Phaedra and Seyyide, as well as open dance floor time, a raffle table (both bellydance and other stuff) and a cash bar.

Location: Sons of Italy Hall, 19 Prentiss Street, Arlington. That's right off Mass Ave in the area between Arlington Center and Arlington Heights.
Mapquest: http://tinyurl.com/5862r

Date: Saturday, August 7

Time: Doors open at 7:30, first performance is at 8pm. I have no idea what the performance order will be.

Admission: $15 at the door (no advance tickets)

Hope to see some of you there! This is a very cool event for me not just because it's dancing in a good cause, but also because I'm doing a ten minute Egyptian-style routine, which is more complex music than the vast majority of my public performances to date. So it's a personal challenge for me, one that I'm very excited about, because this is the music that stirs my soul and shakes my shimmy :-)

Why am I the only person in this office to ever replace the empty water bottle with a new full one on the bubbler? I like feeling strong and all, but I doubt I'm that much stronger than most of the other people here.

Two days of sitting at this desk for 8 hours in this uncomfy chair have brought back all the hamstring and tendon pain I've been feeling but had been abating in the week I was off. So now I know what's causing that. I guess I should start paying attention to my little stretching reminder that pops up on my monitor every little while. When this office was outfitted with furniture, they bought what looked nice, not what was remotely functional or human-friendly.

On the plus side, I'm about to get my old comfy purple chair back. On the minus side, it's because my office is moving this week to more crowded quarters in a Bay State Road townhouse. Goodbye river view, balcony, visiting hawks, fly-by helicopters, efficient heat and air conditioning. No word yet on whether I have to share an office or not, though I did state my opinion on the matter last week in the right ear, so that might help. There might not be any real choice, though.

The new futon we ordered was supposed to arrive yesterday, but it didn't. The woman at Dream On Futon said when I called yesterday "Oh, Nutmeg never made it today, so we should have it tomorrow." Nutmeg? Is that a person, a truck, a plucky dog that looks like Benji? Could Clove or Cinnamon have brought our futon, if Nutmeg wasn't available? Ah, Cambridge. Anyway we should have a comfy new bed today, I hope. I bought a new pillow over the weekend and I still feel so special from that, I can't believe sleeping is about to get more comfy still. Now if only I ever had time to be sleeping.

Oh look, a stretching reminder. Ok then.

and he sings it, too:

"well, what else could I do?"
