Just received an alert from the campus police telling everybody that there is "police activity" at an address smack in the middle of campus and to please avoid the area until further notice.  No local news yet, but I hear a helicopter now so perhaps we will know something soon.  Or blow up, one or the other.

My trusty earbuds partially died this morning.  I've had them for at least three and probably closer to four years, which for me is a veritable record of headphone survival.  Now I must wait for new ones to come in the mail.  Will I be more bothered by no music at all, or by listening to it in one ear only?  My brain still feels lopsided from this morning's commute.  I suppose I could dig up the cruddy earbuds that came with my mp3 player but that might be even worse than one earful of the good ones.

Oh hey there's another chopper.  And WHDH says "SWAT teams looking for man on Boston University campus."  Whee!

Earphones never last that long for me... One of our cats likes to eat the wires, and it is inevitable that I'll forget to put them away, just one time... And that's all it takes for Mal to snack on them!

My current ones are doing great at almost 6 months.

I just talked to a buddy in the campus police, and according to him, a young female student reported to a police officer that she had seen a man carrying said magazine loaded with bullets. Nobody else saw him or his fearsome weaponry. I'm guessing if he existed, your bet is a winner!

Reminds me of the time I was living in Pittsburgh and a co-worker called to say he couldn't come into work because there was a sniper outside his house. My boss didn't believe him until he handed the phone over to the cop who was with him.
