Well, we have an appointment to go visit a ferret shelter on Wednesday*.  I think I am going to email the breeder and let her know that while we liked the kits we met very much, they weren't quite what we wanted, and that we'd like to see the next litter when the kits are old enough for visitors.  I will tell her though that in the meanwhile we are looking at what's available at the shelters.  I feel sure that she will completely understand--and probably even support--that plan of action.  I am still completely undecided about what I want to do/what I ought to do/what I will end up doing, but I think I will leave it in the hands of fate.  If we fall for some ferrets this Wednesday, well, that's that.  If not, we look at more kits.  But whether our future ferrets come from a shelter or a breeder, I want to feel like they are the right ones.

*we were also planning to go back to Ikea on Wednesday evening, which is conveniently one town over from the shelter.  M suggests that if Ikea sold ferrets, they would be called Weesollz or Feritks.  Somehow this makes me picture the Swedish Chef chasing muppet ferrets all over his kitchen as they gleefully wreaked havoc.

I'm still sick but not as sick as I was.  I hate warm weather colds, it makes all the snuffling all the more unbearable.  Even though I'm not allergic to ferrets in small numbers, apparently I am allergic to being in a small room with a dozen or so unfixed ferrets, which did not help.  I did manage to dance some on Saturday though.  I'm not sure why I thought this would be less effort than working on my own performance projects, but I decided to do some of Mohammed Shahin's melaya leff DVD.  Yeah, snappy Reda choreo combined with swinging around heavy cloth, that'll be effortless.  Ha!  It was fun though and put me in a good mood, it made me smile.  The camerawork is more than occasionally frustrating and the first half hour of the DVD repeats itself, so I do feel like it was overpriced but at the same time still worth purchasing.  The song is Banat Baharai, which I know pretty well, and it was really interesting to see what elements of the music Mohammed Shahin chose to choreograph to  and which he didn't.  I didn't dance on Sunday, but I did write up a practice drill for myself.  I like the various drilling DVDs that I've got, but none of them provide everything I want to be drilling regularly.  So now I've got my list of stuff I want to work on, and now I need to work out appropriate music for each part.  Mostly I need boring drum solos that just go on without distracting me with snappy patterns and accents.

I seem to be a member of an event planning committee that I do not recall volunteering for.  I'm in the event, but didn't think I'd volunteered to be involved with the planning portion.  That's what you get for having ideas and voicing them, I guess--you get drafted.  I don't mind helping out though.
