I stay reasonably healthy all winter--spring arrives, and bam, I'm sick. Blocked sinuses, aching ears, the whole deal. I cut back on some of the weekend's planned activities, but probably I should have just been a complete hermit. Came to work only because I had the follow-up appointment with the podiatrist today. He concurred with the physical therapist's assessment that this is not something that will go away, but can be managed. He made some modifications to my insoles that should help and gave me another cortisone shot, fun fun. I did not have a reaction to it, but I can feel that my foot is full of extra fluid, a not particularly pleasant sensation. If I feel like the shot helps, we'll do another one in six weeks or so. If the condition becomes something that really affects my daily life, surgery to remove the scar tissue is an option, but not an excellent one as it would involve removing some of the nerve whose irritation is causing the scar tissue, and the surgery can generate more scar tissue of its own as it's rather invasive. Doesn't seem worth the risk to me, and I really don't like the idea of losing a piece of nerve. I need all the nerve I have.

I have space reserved at Green Street Studios tonight. Dancing is about the last thing I feel capable of doing today, but this is the only night there's space available, I need to work on cane in a roomy environment and I have to pay for it whether I show up or not. So I'll go, and try to take it easy as much as possible while still being productive. Or maybe I can sweat this thing out...

Watched Stargate: The Ark of Truth this weekend. It was not especially good but it was nice to see the characters again. I hope the other standalone movie will be better, as it won't be obligated to deal with unfinished story lines.
