swords and moons

My new sword should be arriving today, according to the UPS website. In a fit of frustration with my very junky student level sword, I ordered a balady scimitar from Kult of Athena. I've read some really nice reviews of it, and it can't be worse than the one I've got now. Certainly it's nicer looking. And the shoes I just sold pay for most of it, which is cool. Now I just have to get adept with it by next Saturday.
(I cannot think of the word sword without hearing it in Mr. Universe's voice: "Mal, I ordered it. I ordered a sword, Mal. How wierd is that?")
Watched the lunar eclipse for a while on Wednesday night. It seemed appropriate; Badriya means moon-like, and this moon-like woman certainly had a shadow cast over her that day as well. It made for a good metaphorical reminder that the earth and the moon and the stars and the planets (and comets with tails amazing) keep on spinning, life goes on even in the saddest moments. Every living creature's time is relatively short in the grand scheme of things but we all weave together to create something that endures.
Thank you all for the condolences on Seti's loss. He was a great weasel with a big heart. A couple of people commented about the video that his claws seemed loud and that I seemed to know exactly where he was going to go next at one point--both of those things are because he was running down a cardboard tunnel (a gift from pyrric), so as long as I could hear him scampering through the tunnel, I knew exactly where he had to end up next :-)
