Everybody in black, heavy eyeliner, electrical tape on their skin, big boots on the girls, skirts on the boys, Imogen Heap playing--what is this, So You Think You Can Dance In A Goth Club? heh. Not sure I totally liked the choreography, which isn't surprising since it's Mia Michaels, but I'm happy she dressed them up this way. Danny makes one fine futuristic cyber warrior dancer, I do say.
I had heard there was some controversy about Mia Michaels' jacket last night, but wasn't sure what it was all about. Guess I know now. Liked Nigel's speech very much, not just his defense of Wade Robson but his pointing out that art is supposed to have meaning and occasionally push boundaries.
I do not like this Mika.
Expected Jaime to be in the bottom.
And Lauren. There's nothing on Mia Michaels' jacket when they show scenes from yesterday's show, they must have edited the offending bit out. I guess that makes sense, but it seems wierd. Jaime, I know you are wearing dance pants under your skirt, but still, it doesn't look very lady-like to be sitting in a corsety dress with your knees a foot apart. You're sitting like a dancehall floozy.
Sad about Dominic, but I would have to agree. I'm still irked by the choreographer's music and character choices for his waltz, though. I think I am very much in the Danny camp now even though i disliked him so much before; I can strongly empathize with somebody who has to break through their emotional walls to connect with the audience. Yep. He smiles a lot now, almost as though once he broke through the wall a little it is becoming easier and easier to be natural.
And Kameron totally belongs in the bottom four. Guess my predictions were right. Possibly Pasha deserved to be in the bottom four more than Dominic did, but he's got the teenage girl fan club on his side.
Jaime danced to Stars while wearing her corsety outfit. Post-goth culture is the new dominant paradigm, apparently. Hard to choose between her and Lauren. Jaime has that easy elegant style but Lauren has more personality. Holy cow that was some crazy head spinning! I have zero sense of the body mechanics required to do that--most other movements even though I certainly can't do them I have an understanding of the effort and the musculature involved, but that just seems like anti-gravity power to me. Kameron was klunky. If there's any justice, he's going home.
Oh look, there's justice! Poor Dominic though, I think he was looking forward to the pressure being off. It's sad to see Jaime go, but it had to be somebody. I have absolutely no doubt that she will make a successful career of dance. I said above that Lauren has more personality, but it might be that Jaime's dancing already has the maturity that the rest of her needs to grow into, to have the calm smooth confidence to just do her thing.
And that is that.

Date: 2007-07-27 02:14 am (UTC)Kameron is not good and I'm glad he's gone. Didn't really care about Jaimie vs. Lauren. I'm surprised at how much Danny and Neil have grown on me (I always thought Danny was technically great of course, except his hip-hip number).
Sabra and Sara! #1 and #2!

Date: 2007-07-27 03:23 am (UTC)I would have been upset if Cameron didn't go home. Jaimie went home because she doesn't connect with the audience emotionally, even though she's a solid dancer.
I really liked the Mia Michael's piece. Sometimes I wish they would stop with the camera angles and just give us a straight on so we can see it as it was supposed to be seen. Ah well.
and yes, Danny + dark warrior = really freakin' hottt!!!
