I just discovered that I've lost a filling. I think this is the first time that's ever happened to me. I swear the tooth did not hurt at all until I knew about it >:-(
If you need a recommendation for a dentist who might could work you in next week, I heartily endorse Marya Montazeri at New England Family Dental. They're very close to you, anyway.
Clove oil works for me as a temporary solution -- it's both antiseptic and analgesic. CVS carries it, although they'd package it as a teething/toothache remedy without mentioning what it is. I do not recommend the "temporary filling kits" from sad experience.
Hope you do better over the weekend. This really sucks.
Oh, and if you decide to try a commercial clove oil product (sometimes they call it "eugenol" in the ingredients), look at the ingredients list to make sure that they didn't also add orange oil or bergamot. :(
I have a call in to the BU Dental Center, which is where my insurance is--I already had an exam and cleaning set up for August, but hopefully they will now give me something sooner. I did point out in my message that since I work on the Charles River campus I can be there with very little notice if they have cancellations.
it doesn't hurt too badly but I think I will swing by a drugstore today for clove oil or other dental numbing stuff--I've got two shows tomorrow and don't want to be hit by pain right before I need to look and be all happy. Mostly I'm more annoyed by the way my tongue is getting constantly scratched by the edge of the tooth (it's the far back right lower molar). Hopefully the drugstore will have some dental wax.
