If I were a ferret, right now I would stretch out very long to fluff up all my fur, curl into a tight little ball, fold my paws over each other and go right fast asleep.  That's exactly what I would do.

Very much enjoyed Kiki and Herb with [livejournal.com profile] spitcurl last night.  The review in today's Globe was pretty accurate about the --I was going to say draggy bits, but then they were all draggy bits, weren't they?--slow parts bogging down a little, but there was enough manic brilliance to keep things going.  I agree that some parts were oddly yet genuinely touching.  I see at their MySpace page a CD is available, it's tempting although listening to the clips on MySpace is just not the same as being there.  Also, I loved Kiki's pants--they were like a cross between melodias and sharifwear salsa pants, only turned up to 11.  The Globe had a good photo of them and I am going to clip it and keep it in the hopes that I could have somebody make similar pants for me (I would tackle it myself if it weren't for the ruffles).  Yes, I am taking fashion cues from a drag queen.  Well, I'm a belly dancer, that's only a small step removed sometimes.

Busy weekend ahead.  We're doing a big two family fathers day cookout thing on Sunday (yes, Father's Day is this Sunday!) which means that we are doing a big housecleaning and shopping and cooking thing on Saturday.  Hopefully we will make it out to a birthday party when the house is all shiny and clean, but my apologies in advance if we end up collapsing at home.  Tonight will be minor decluttering and making lists.  I rented Greg the Bunny from Netflix so I imagine we will watch some wonderfully stupid tv.  Ah, the excitement.

Sent in my registration and payment for the Diva Pageant yesterday, heaven help me.  I've already got my music mostly worked out.  If nothing else, this made me deconstruct a drum solo that I love but contained some aimless parts that I never knew what to do with--well, now I know, cut them out!  This is turning out to be a somewhat busier summer than I thought it would be dancewise, but that's ok.  Two of the upcoming gigs are charity things and it feels good to do those.

Going to see Kiki and Herb here in July. Can't wait, have not seen them since..well, since they lived here. Homecoming!

I have one of their CDs (a holiday one, bought i in a moment at one of their holiday shows), and honestly? I never listen to it. Maybe it should go into my holiday music roster, along with Elvis, the Muppets, a Rhino Christmas comp, and the Chipmunks. But overall I could have lived without it on my shelf. :)

Have you seen the doc on their London tour? Highly recommended.

I saw Kiki and Herb about five years ago in New York and thought that they did an awesome, awesome show. Glad to see that they're making it big.

So big they lost a Tony!

They were much more nasty and less...deep/socially conscious the times I'd seen them at Manray, but they have some fantabulous sets now.
