I will be participating in the Green Street Studios Community Concert on May 5, 2006, 185 Green Street, Cambridge.  This evening celebrating the various styles of movement and dance taught at Green Street Studios includes performances by:

Petre Petrov/Balkan Folk Dancing
Emily Randolph/Release Technique
Kodokan Martial Arts
Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp/Influx Dance
Najmat/Middle Eastern Dance  <---- I'll be in this performance :-)
Dawn David Loring/Mosaic Body Dance
Marta Moussa/Polynesian Dance Arts
Shakti Rowan/Tribal Belly Dance   <--- I think maybe some of you know her?  I'm looking forward to seeing what she does
Jody Weber/Modern Dance

and, according to the flyer, many more.  The show starts at 8pm and tickets are $15, which includes a reception following the show.  It's a bit pricey, but it is in part a fund-raiser for a very worthy cause.  It should be a very interesting and entertaining evening, I'm looking forward to seeing all of it.  Although "Influx Dance" prompts the instant word association "Reflux Dance" which sounds rather awful, but I'm guessing it's nothing like that really ;-)

Melaya and cane practice and yoga on Monday plus an hour and half of veil class on Tuesday equals one very sore Badriya Z on Wednesday.  Good sore, though.  Action-packed week/weekend ahead of me as usual--more meleya and cane tonight, dress rehearsal for Amira Jamal's student recital on Thursday, more meleya and cane and gear bag packing on Friday, cane lesson mid-Saturday afternoon, go help set up and then perform in NBDA event Saturday evening, yoga on Sunday plus I absolutely must do something about the garden in all of that.  Oh, and I need to sew my mermaid skirt and gauntlets for AJ's recital as soon as the (shiny metallic teal lycra) fabric arrives, which will be Friday according to UPS.  I won't be at all prepared for the dress rehearsal, oh well.  Amira Jamal's seen me in cabaret costumes plenty of times, she can trust me and Lilya to match.  I'm worried the metallic lycra will be an utter bitch to work with, but I'll do some reading up on it before I set needle to it.  I did order some needles for lyrca knits to hopefully make life easier.

Then Monday is the Nick Cave movie The Proposition at the Somerville Theatre--anybody else going?  Then dance class, then prepare for the NBDA and my Sunday show, then AJ's class, then Sekhmet rehearsal, then AJ's recital, then yoga and the Middle East.  On May Day I shall shout "May Day!" as I collapse into a torpor.

I was more perplexed by "release technique". I've been friends with [livejournal.com profile] damiel and [livejournal.com profile] subatomicsatan too long, I guess :)
