tis the season to be a consumer
Dec. 14th, 2007 01:34 pmI am buying a camcorder this holiday season, but I can't figure out whether it is better to take advantage of the before Christmas sales, or whether the day after Christmas sales will be better. Any opinions or insights, oh wise ones of livejournal?
I have decided that rather than buying new boots, I will try stretching my Fluevogs first, and so have ordered a boot stretcher. As far as the heel height goes, I will just be more mindful about stretching my calves. I've gotten better lately. It occurs to me that all of my foot problems have started since I began living in a largely flat neighborhood. When I lived in hilly terrain, my leg muscles got stretched in all different directions all the time without any extra effort on my part.
One nice thing in physical therapy yesterday, the therapist had me walk barefoot up and down a hallway to watch my foot mechanics, and commented that even if he hadn't already known I was a dancer, he would have been able to tell by the way I walked. That was rather a nice thing to hear.
Ended up walking home from Alewife yesterday afternoon because I could not bear the thought of being trapped in traffic on a bus with a gazillion cranky people who were unable to accept that yes, it takes longer to get home in the snow storm and gasp, it's hard for the buses to keep to their schedules when the roads aren't plowed. I was dressed warmly so it was actually quite pleasant to walk in the snowbound silence of the empty streets, even with the blowing winds and slightly treacherous footing. I made it home in about 20 minutes, I'm sure it would have been far, far longer by bus.
Today I fell on my way to work, but luckily I landed in a snowbank so all I bruised was my dignity.
