Sep. 13th, 2006 11:58 amI want to strangle RCN, the entire corporation. All I want to do is change my service to get what I want, and they are downright obstructive about it. I am not at all equipped to handle anything like this at the moment. I managed to write a reasonably civil letter of complaint, we'll see if that does any good. I think what it comes down to is that they don't want new subscribers to know what their phone-internet-cable packages are going to cost once the promotional periods are over, so they don't provide any information relevant for existing customers.
Weren't there supposed to be some pick and choose laws going into effect about cable providers? If not, there ought to be. Grr.
I noted in last week's Arlington Advocate that the only stores to submit applications for beer and wine licenses are all convenience stores, and that makes me very sad. I guess the hold up is that you must already have a location lined up, either through ownership or lease, before you can submit an application, so if somebody wanted to open say a little wine shop, it would be taking a gamble that you might not get the license and then be stuck with the storefront. I guess on the positive side, one of the convenience stores (Dagg's Deli) is a short walk from my house, and since the owner of that store has previous liquor sales experience it's likely that they'll get a license. Still, I'd much rather see a nice wine and cheese type establishment. Trader Joe's didn't even put in an application, which really surprised me, but I think they still have time. Anyone want to give me pots of money so I can open a fancy-schmancy beer and wine shop in Arlington?
