I'm dancing in a benefit for Jane Doe, Inc. on Saturday, August 12 at the Dance Complex--the event runs I believe from 2-5pm.  Local dancer Zehara has organized this event in honor of a friend of hers who was murdered by an ex-boyfriend; she was just 20 years old.  I'm very honored to be a part of this event.

Jane Doe's mission statement:
The Massachusetts Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence brings together organizations and people committed to ending domestic violence and sexual assault. We create social change by addressing the root causes of this violence, and promote justice, safety and healing for survivors. JDI advocates for responsive public policy, promotes collaboration, raises public awareness, and supports our member organizations to provide comprehensive prevention and intervention services. We are guided by the voices of survivors.

Very enigmatic Dina video, which I post to see if anybody else has any idea what it is about either, and also to say how much I love her shiny stripey dress in the ocean and the black and white striped galabiya later in the video.  And people say they don't get why goths might be attracted to belly dance--put some stompy boots and big jewelry on the shiny dress and it would be excellent club wear!  Plus that whole spirit of the sea thing...
