Bauhaus are *opening* for Nine Inch Nails this summer.  I know which of the bands is the big popular one, but still, that hurts my heart.

Really? When I saw Bowie/NIN Bowie was on second and they did a seamless swap where Bowie did some songs with the NIN stage band and then Trent did some songs with Bowie. It was pretty unreal having Bowie sing Reptile and having NIN do Scary Monsters.

Surreal was Trent & Adam Ant singing onstage together (NIN '95).

Yeah, that was pretty cool -- I caught the worcester show where Adam Ant joined NIN.

i think of it like the big triple combo shows of the late 80s. so there are really two headliners - and one opening band tba.

*giddy*

The irony is that in the early days of NIN trent opened for Peter Murphy and supposedly there was a lot of conflict between the two acts.

I've heard about that a long time ago. I guess it looks like they have a change of heart if they are doing it again this year.

Likely good marketing sense as well -- their fan bases probably are just far enough apart that they can pull in a larger crowd together than apart, and they will overlap enough that it won't be a mess.

For the fall tour NIN made a point of having Queens of Stone Age since the booking agents were concerned that NIN alone would not sell enough tickets. Not sure how NIN got around that for the spring dates (just got back from the Atlantic City show!) but they are playing 'secondary' markets on this leg.

Hmm...I'm curious if Peter and Trent is doing a song together?! hmmm. This is going to be an interesting show to watch.

Hmmm, mixed emotions on that one, but the comment about following in Bowie's footsteps makes it a little easier to take. Has the information/dates already been posted for the tour?

Don't be hurt. I think they asked to open because they need to leave the show early to get home and into bed. They get tired after they've been up that long.

And how many people do you think went to see Bowie over NIN on that tour?

"Dude, he's playing a Nirvana song!"
