Really? When I saw Bowie/NIN Bowie was on second and they did a seamless swap where Bowie did some songs with the NIN stage band and then Trent did some songs with Bowie. It was pretty unreal having Bowie sing Reptile and having NIN do Scary Monsters.
wow - that's right - at Avalon, I was there. I also bit someone through a leather jacket 'cause I got hit in the head by someone crowd surfing... Ahhhhh the good o'l days.
Likely good marketing sense as well -- their fan bases probably are just far enough apart that they can pull in a larger crowd together than apart, and they will overlap enough that it won't be a mess.
For the fall tour NIN made a point of having Queens of Stone Age since the booking agents were concerned that NIN alone would not sell enough tickets. Not sure how NIN got around that for the spring dates (just got back from the Atlantic City show!) but they are playing 'secondary' markets on this leg.
Hmmm, mixed emotions on that one, but the comment about following in Bowie's footsteps makes it a little easier to take. Has the information/dates already been posted for the tour?
Don't be hurt. I think they asked to open because they need to leave the show early to get home and into bed. They get tired after they've been up that long.
