Dec. 27th, 2005 07:31 pma thorough warm up + over an hour of shimmy practice + 1 hour 20 minutes of lunar yoga = one very blissed out me. yay endorphins!
The shimmy DVD is a challenge, but in a very good way. Not too surprisingly, the shimmies that I do all the time (Egyptian thigh shimmy, 3/4 shimmy, muscle vibration or freeze) I do well and can keep up with the DVD no problem. The shimmies that I don't do that often (the bigger more American hip shimmy, twists) I don't do that well, or at least can't sustain at speed for very long. But this will be an excellent resource for getting better. I'm also happy that it has samba shimmy, which I've been wanting to learn for a while to spice up my drum solos, and also Ghawazee shimmy, which I was happy to find I've been figuring out/learning correctly from studying old Ghawazee footage.
Waiting to hear from the Dance Complex on room availability this week, so I can go play with my wings. I have Ideas...
