Sep. 15th, 2005 04:04 pmThere's a very nice article on Xena in Salon today. Young makes a lot of good points, but this, for me, was a huge part of why I enjoyed the show so much: "Xena was not "strong but feminine"; she was unapologetically strong and unapologetically female, sexy and powerful, unafraid to get sweaty and dirty on the job, and all the more beautiful for it."

Date: 2005-09-17 04:39 pm (UTC)It was funny that they mentioned the psychologist who took Xena as an manual for living. I totally had Xena as an inspiration when I was working at that terrible place last winter... I remember watching the episodes and asking myself "What can I learn from this?"
Unfortunately I do not think the show is as good as Buffy. I do think that BtVS took its rightful place as the better "girl-power" show because it was simply more entertaining. But then I'm still in Season One of Xena, and perhaps it gets better. I love it, but I don't feel very attached to the characters.
