The Northeast Belly Dance Association kicks-off the Boston chapter with a meeting and show. We’re hoping for a well-attended meeting to get this chapter off to a good start!
The meeting is open to current NBDA members in the metropolitan Boston area, those interested in joining, and anyone else in the belly dance community (including other NBDA chapter members) who want to network and meet each other.
After the meeting, we’ll open the doors to the general public for what may be the first-ever Mohammed El-Bakkar Festival!
You may know Mohammed El-Bakkar by his 1950’s records, which always featured alluring harem girl-fantasy covers. This icon of early belly dance music was a fez-topped orchestra leader, oud player and singer with an almost cartoonish look—not unlike a Middle Eastern Desi Arnaz—and has made some of the most intoxicating and exciting music ever recorded!
