As is, this is a very "unique" costume indeed, but if re-imagined in black and peacock feathers and iris beadwork and some strategic fishnet, it could be something really cool. I like the shape of the headpiece, though the current colors are indeed awful.

Oh man, here's another one from the same vendor--hilarious! At first glance I thought those were little claw shapes and that this one too would have a lot of potential in other colors, but then I looked more closely and read the description...

Gosh, there's a lot of crap on eBay. I'm not supposed to be spending any money, but the thing about performing regularly is that one wants more costumes.

Yeah, there's tons o' drek on Ebay, but there's also some really cool and hard-to-find stuff that you can get for decent prices.

I try to not look too often (especially for belly dance stuff, since I don't perform much), because when I do, I want.

Do you do any costuming for it yourself, or do you prefer a kind of costume (like cabaret) that tends to be really time consuming to make?

For the gothy fusiony stuff, I tend to make more of my own costuming, or to put things together out of various bits. But as far as cabaret costuming goes, I've done just enough beadwork and so on to know that I'm better off just paying for the professionals to do it for me :)
