Blueberry--Eddie Izzard

Those of you who saw Sexie may recall Eddie Izzard's number about being an action transvestite and the horse that took him from Mexico to Canada while filming Blueberry, a movie based on the French comic series--M astutely noticed that Blueberry is now available on DVD as Renegade. Netflix has it, you can also see a trailer with a couple glimpses of Eddie looking very scruffy and not very transvestite-y. Still charmingly Eddie, though :-)

Blueberry is done by one of the coolest French Directors - Jan Kounen. (He emailed me back in '97! When I emailed to ask about some of his work, while I was at art school.) He was working on Blueberry when I looked into getting some of his animated shorts last year (which I still need to do.). Now that he's doing feature length films, I'm hoping he gets better distribution so more people here in the US can see what he's been up to, including me. (His 1st feature comes with a bonus dvd with the animated shorts I want, but last I checked was still only available in France, and I need to check back in when I have time.)

He did that somewhat well known stop motion with weird witches on motorized broomsticks crusing through the city. He also did a very fetish-y/Lengend-y short called The Last Riding Hood, which has stunning sketches & storyboards (that's the one I've been trying to get a copy of.)
