I wish grown-ups were allowed to put their heads down on their desks and take a little nap every now and then.

It was looked upon favorably in my grad school school lab (both for the grad students and the post-docs). It meant that you were making the most of your downtime so you could spend more awake time doing the work. Too bad I was bothered about sleeping when I could hear people walking around.

I think you should just do it. Put a little sign next to your that reads "smoke break." No one will say anything, especially since you aren't a smoker!

In an enlightened workplace, we could. I should move to a country that has siestas. Unfortunately naptime for me seems to be right around when I'm driving home.

I second this motion.

Why do smokers get moments of santioned time but non-smokers can't regularly blow off a couple minutes a day?

I don't know about you all, but I remember as a child when the teacher/person in charge said "put your heads down on your desks", it was a BAD thing.
