I don't eat ice cream very often. I like it very much, but I just don't eat that much of it. On Saturday, Mathew wanted some ice cream after a nice sushi dinner we had with fusion_waste, so we stopped by Friendly's in Arlington. I succumbed to temptation and had some mint chocolate chip ice cream. The place was chaotic and one server was complaining about the fact that he was expected to clean things off between uses when the place was so busy (I think it was the milk steamer nozzles, I'm not sure).

So it didn't come as an enormous surprise that the place got shut down last night for health violations, but the fact that one employee had Hepatitis A and everybody who ate cold or raw foods there in the last couple of weeks now has to get an immune globulin shot is quite a surprise.

That ice cream was so not worth it.

Yikes! I always find Friendly's to be a surreal experience, but that takes the cake. Was this mentioned in the Advocate?

I haven't seen the Advocate yet--it might not have made it into this week's issue, as they just shut it down last night. I guess it did make the network news last night though, as M's mom called us today all worried about it and one of my co-workers had heard about it.

ayun's boy just introduced me to toscanini's mint chocolate chip. it's like no other mint ice cream on the planet. it's crisp and fresh.

oh, you've totally reminded me of the mini Hood ice cream sandwiches that Star Market sometimes carries. I can eat half a box of the mint chocolate chip ones without thinking about it. You must try them before you leave!

seriously though. that sucks. makes me more wary of eating out. and i've always been wary of eating out. i just don't really trust the cleanliness of any restaurant, even though i have been eating out more these past few months than is my wont.
