M brought home Pan's ashes yesterday.  He's packaged differently than Cully and Amelia were.  I guess a few years ago, little urns for little animals weren't so widely available, so Cully and Amelia are in cat/small dog-sized urns, with I'm sure rather lots of room inside.  Pan's in a little tiny urn set in a purple velvet heart-shaped box.  It looks nice.  He always did look good against purple.  As time goes on from living with him as an ill, frail ferret, my memories gradually shift back to remembering him as a sleek and busy weasel.  I often think I hear him or see him.  I wonder if this happens to Seti as well.  It definitely happens to M.

I don't want to jinx anything by talking about it too much, but a week from Saturday somebody is bringing over a ferret they have been fostering to meet Seti and see how they get along ([livejournal.com profile] rojagato, remember Ronnie?  that's who it is).  This little guy was found wandering the streets of Lawrence the morning of our huge January snowstorm--he's very lucky he was found.  The rescue named him Stormy.  I don't know what he looks like, but the shelter vet guessed that he's about two years old.  He's been getting along fine with other ferrets at his foster home, so we are hopeful that this will work out.

Ran through my zar three times in a row last night, and my head did not fall off.  Nor did I fall over or throw up.  I'm feeling pretty good about this.  I practiced in full costume last night and was thrilled to discover that the big heavy movements of the zar make the coins on my costume jingle along in time to the music--it's almost like I'm wearing the music.  Must not go into actual trance...

M and I are seeing Constantine at the Fenway at 7:30 tonight, should anyone care to join us.

remember Ronnie?

I'm glad she's still involved in this. What a wonderful person.

I hope this works out for the little ferrets and for the big people involved.

I'm really sorry about Pan.

And what timing to be doing a zar. Hope it helps some.

you know i was sitting watching the telly the other night, and all of a sudden i found myself doing headslides. sideways, front and back ways and rotary ones. it was really weird because i've never been able to do them. i certainly can't do it now, but it seemed my body wanted to do them because i found all my neck tension (and pain) relieved from it. i think stress makes our body demand certain movements that make us feel better. so hopefully the zar is doing that too.

best of luck on the new ferret :) seti needs a new partner in crime.

A wandering ferret found in a snowstorm? How poetic and fateful.
