I'm satisfied with the ending to this season's SYTYCD.  I rather expected Brandon to win, but in retrospect, it makes sense that Jeanine was able to get the most votes with her dramatic improvement.  She really was a powerhouse on Wednesday and earned her win.  And I have to admit I cried a little for her, she was so clearly surprised by the win.  I feel bad for Brandon who I think has just been emotionally jerked around by the judges all season--you're a fraud and we hate you!  you're the best and you're going to win!  oh look, you don't win, you're not good enough after all!--but hopefully he's resilient enough to keep his confidence.

It was great seeing a lot of those routines again when the dancers were rested and had more time to refine them.  Of course I'm sure the rest of the top ten have been busy since being cut preparing for the tour, but that's probably a slightly more sane workload, and it's familiar material.  Though I have to say I think Brandon and Jeanine's paso doble was even better on Thursday than on Wednesday, perhaps because they knew they were each other's competitors.  I could see that really feeding into the battle spirit of the paso doble.  It was also interesting to see Jeanine in that hip hop routine with Phillip again--her growth has really been incredible.  I recall thinking at the time that she got through that routine mostly by grit and sheer determination to keep up; now she also has the formidable skills to do it right, and not be shown up by Phillip in the slightest.

I noticed at the end when they were all milling about on stage that Kayla and Adam Shankman made a beeline for each other and stayed separate from the rest.  Hope she was getting a job offer :-)

Yeah, I imagine if you're in the top 4 (hell, top 10) you have offers coming at you from everywhere. I can't imagine that Janette didn't have one the minute it was announced that she was out. If some Broadway cast doesn't scoop up Evan, they're stupid. And, man, it would be nice to see Brandon tour with a troupe like Alvin Ailey or something.

I cried a little for Jeanine, too. She was the underdog between the two of them but really deserved it with her performances on Wednesday.
