Totally concur with Randi being the girl to leave this week.  It's going to get tough from here on in though, I like all four of the remaining women.  They each really have their own unique strengths.

Obviously I am very sad about Kupono, because I enjoy his dancing very much and think he has been continuing to grow.  But I can see that quirkiness and character and idiosyncrasy isn't what wins the contest, technique and adaptability is, and he falls a little short compared to the other men in the last two areas.  Although I think the same argument can be made for Evan--it's just that his quirky character is more palatable to the American public.  sirendipity , I think I also agree with your observation that he tends to only rise as far as his partner goes, hence some of his best dancing has been with Kayla.  I also think that Kupono's very admirable comfort with being femmy worked against him.  Doing some SYTYCD surfing last night, I was astonished to find how much many people seemed to actively dislike him--not just think the other dancers are better, but actively wanting him to be kicked off the show.  If people could have voted against him in addition to voting for others, they would have.  So that made me a bit sad.  Though I guess it's nice to know that what I like best and what mainstream America likes best still aren't quite the same ;-)

Was surprised to see Ade was the other low-scoring male dancer--I thought his solo was superb on Wednesday (though shaky on Thursday).  I really expected it to be Evan.  But I guess Evan's fan club came through for him, and I don't think Ade has a strong fan club at this point.

Really enjoyed the Wade Robson opening number.  I've given up on trying to gauge the political correctness of dance routines on the show and am just enjoying them for the spectacle.  Melissa looked like a beautiful ghost.

That opening piece was brilliant. I loved it. And Melissa was gorgeous.

I've been trying to get my head around why Ade was in the bottom and not Evan, and it really is the teen factor. Now that the judges don't have any control over the outcome, it has become a popularity contest. I imagine Evan attracts the typical teenage girl, and I gather more teenage girls vote in the audience than any other demographic. Ade is amazing, and quite beautiful, but he doesn't have the cute factor that Evan apparently does*.

I'm sad to hear that people actively dislike Kupono. And, it makes me really sad to think that he was ousted because he's effeminate. I don't think he should be in the top 2, but he definitely deserves top 4 more than Evan.

Oh, I also have this theory that there this huge off-off Broadway scene that's voting for Evan - more because an actor friend of mine knows him well and has been plastering all over FB to vote for him. :)

Finally, I'm not surprised about Randi but I am surprised at what Mary Murphy said about her when they announced she was in the bottom. Um, what? You don't get why she was in the bottom but you get why Melissa was? Has the bottox seeped into your brain?!?!


*Actually I've always felt like he looked...off which made me think that he wasn't very cute. I finally saw it last night. His forehead is Frankenstein huge. It's like half his head is above his eyebrows. Insane.

Yeah, Evan seems like he's working the cute thing too hard for it to really work. And his whole head seems a little too big for his body.

I'm afraid Mary Murphy's face is going to crack and fall off one of these nights...

As much as I've enjoyed Kupono....I would have seriously thrown a shitfit if Ade was gone.

No disagreement that Ade is the better dancer/performer--I very much enjoy his performances too, and he should be among the top 4. A win wouldn't surprise me either. But I *like* Kupono better :-)

I'd enjoy going to a fabric district with Kupono...and running through his closet putting things out of order.

P.S. I totally saw Kerrington on Splash Mountain last week at Disney Land (took a one day break from family to see an old friend.)
