A new Nick Cave song

If you go to this Italian music blog and scroll down a bit, you can find an mp3 of Dig Lazarus Dig!!!, the single from the upcoming Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album (you do have to scroll past a picture of that guitar vibrator plug in thing, but it's not obvious what it is so it's pretty SFW).  I think my reaction is somewhat damning by means of faint praise, which is to say I like it a whole heck of a lot better than the last two Bad Seeds albums, but that ain't saying much.  The new album is supposed to have a whole NYC in the 70s, Studio 54 meets No Wave kind of vibe to it, and I do get that from this song, I think I would even without knowing it was supposed to be there.  It's just not 100 percent holding my attention, though.  I will check out the new album when it it is released (in Feb, I think) but I will hope for stronger material than this first single.

nick cave and warren ellis did the soundtrack for the assassination of jesse james, which i am guessing you knew. it's lovely.

I haven't heard it yet, but it's on my albums I should get list. I do love The Proposition soundtrack.

Funny his best work recently has been soundtracks--maybe he's better off having his music constrained by a single narrative these days.
