making wine out of sour grapes

I was just being all annoyed that i don't have much room to work with my cane in my living room when it occurred to me that it's good practice for dancing with it in restaurants.  If I can manage not to hit the light, the tv, the coffee table and the sofa, then I can manage not to hit the tables, the customers, the waiters and the speakers.  I swear though that every time I dance with a cane at the ME I whack that metal thing that sticks out above the front door.  Didn't it used to have a parrot hanging from it or something?  I seem to recall it used to be easier to see and avoid.

I was feeling good about my drum solos but now I feel stupid again.  I'm working with a hard drum solo, but still.  I suspect there will be a lot of standing still and shimmying tomorrow night.  Conveniently I'm dressing folkloric, so it's not like I could do anything that complex anyway, it would just be lost under the dress.

Taht il Shubbak feels as good as ever.  I find more in that song every time I dance to it.  Give me ten more years with it and I should have something worth seeing. (I say that with sincere humility, not putting myself down)

I feel like I've learned a lot through the late summer and fall but I'm still internalizing it, so I feel like my dancing is slightly stuttering as I sort out how to use what I've learned and which things really click with me.  It's not a bad feeling, just a little teeter-tottery.  I'm looking forward, in an apprehensive way, to getting a camcorder so I can review my practices.

ok, now yoga, shower so I'm not stinky, then be a social girl for the rest of the day.  how odd!
