Good things:

-figuring out how to get enough hot water to fill the bathtub. You have to let the water flow into the tub at a trickle, because if the water runs too fast, it somehow outruns the hot water supply, so that you have a tepid bath while all the other faucets in the house still have hot water. Look out Lush, here I come!

-another kickass workshop this weekend. The focus was all on creating choreography, with some added stuff on combinations and creating transitions. Plus we had some fun zaar dancing--i would love to learn more of that. It's used as an accent in belly dance, but the real thing is a sort of trance dance intended to mollify the spirits around/inside you that are causing you distress. It involves whipping your head around so that your hair flies everywhere and spinning at the same time, dancing to a rhythm that mimics a heartbeat. I figure if the flying hair doesn't chase away the malicious spirits, they'll leave when you throw up on them. Seriously though, it was cool stuff. I am not the religious type but this moved me.

-fraoch heather ale, available in amusing castle-shaped 4-packs at Downtown Liquor in Davis Square.

-My husband, who bought me Kermit as Captain Smollet from Muppets Treasure Island, as seen here. I think I officially collect Kermits now. I already have regular Kermit with coffee mug and camera, and next on the list is Kermit reporting from Koosbane, complete with Koosbanians. I love all the Muppets very much, but Kermit is definitely the one I identify with the most in many ways.

-our performance at the workshop gala event last night, which went pretty well. Our Ojos Asi was pretty messed up, but I just can't get that worked up about it. I had to relearn the entire thing backwards in two days, as I believe I complained about before, and the two new people only had 6 days to learn it, so the fact that we made it through the song at all is downright miraculous. Also, I discovered the tear in my bra strap before going on stage, so there were no unplanned additions to the choreography, such as Badriya clutching her chest and dashing offstage.

-the troupe all feeling good about dancing together. None of the stresses have gone away, but when it's good, it's very good.

-I bought a purple mum and put it in a purple pot out on the front steps. I also bought a sourdough bagette, some smoked gouda, peppered goat cheese, smoked salmon and grapes to have for dinner tonight. Hopefully M won't pick up food on his way home from rehearsal.

Not so good things:

-losing my checkbook sometime between Thursday morning when I wrote a rent check and Friday evening when I went to get my checkbook out of my bag. It's entirely possible that I left it somewhere the ferrets could get their little paws on it and that they hid it somewhere (I did look under the bed though), but to be safe, I'll have to go to the bank tomorrow and change my account. How annoying.

-being mad at my body for having no pick-up to my muscles, and then realizing that this is what extended fatigue does to a person. Crash!

-some dance scene politics. Nothing major, but it reduces my opinion of all the persons involved.

-the knowledge that I have an entire week of work to get through before I can finally get enough sleep in one night. I try to go to bed early, I really do, but the best I can seem to manage is an hour later than I should be going to bed.

-Diamanda Galas not performing this Friday. I know she'll come back--at least I hope--but I am still bitterly disappointed. I've been wanting to see her for, gulp, close to two decades.

-that last sentence there in the item above.

Re: hot baths
Hrm, I'll have to try that, as I've been having a similar problem in the new place.
Good luck on resting up!
