alonewiththemoonOnly 6.5 hours of work to go, and then I am on my birthday mini-vacation extended weekend. And that 6.5 hours will be broken up by a mid-afternoon trip to the dentist for a cleaning and advice on how to make my jaw not click and pop, as well as birthday lunch here at work. So the day should go quickly. But the last hour--oh! how it has dragged!
My parents gave me a pot of money for my birthday, most of which is going to pay off ferret bills but some of which will cover the leopard print part of the new copper coin and leopard print costume I have on the way. They also gave me a Rosie the Riveter action figure, who now resides on my desk at work, a beaded shawl (which will become a hip scarf) and a book I had as a child called The Temper Tantrum Book. My new tiger pic is from that source. It was oddly wonderful reading this book again that I read so many times as a child and seeing the oh-so-familiar illustrations. I remembered each picture so clearly, though I'd imagine it's been about 28 years or so since I set eyes on the book. Hooray for nostalgia. Some days, I could live there.
On a related note I ran into an old friend on the bus the other night. She's teaching mentally disabled kids in a program hosted at Arlington High School and seemed happier and calmer than I'd ever seen her before. I need to be better about staying in touch. After the last time I had contact with an old friend, it was very reassuring to know that people can become happy and do good things with their lives.
Busy, busy weekend ahead of me. Hopefully sleep will factor in there somewhere.
