Sep. 14th, 2004 12:58 pmI am going to expire of tedium. There's so many things I want to do, but none of them include doing busy-work here at work today.
Dancing in my new heels last night went very well--I could really feel the extra support for my calf muscles. Class was a bit odd, as the teacher kept more or less bashing Egyptian-style dancing even though that is what she is teaching this semester. I was a bit shocked to hear her say, and others agree, that watching the old tapes of Samia Gamal et al had nothing to offer and that they were boring. But I guess that is the classic difference between people who really like Egyptian style and people who don't--where I see exquisite subtleness and inner drama and heartfelt emotion, others see somebody standing there not doing very much. At any rate I'm already learning new movements, so that's a good thing, and this class will force me to work on zills, which is a good thing for me but probably a bad thing for Mathew, the ferrets and all our neighbors, who will have to put up with my practicing. Zills are not my favorite thing. Another reason to love Egyptian style--hardly any zills!
Would this day just hurry along already?
