Ronan is a year younger than Seti, he was "supposed" to be longer lived or about the same. Ferrets really need another ferret, a cat or something wouldn't be the same. Plus I'd be allergic to it.
You don't sound uncompassionate. It's a hard thing to figure out. Hopefully it won't end up being an issue for a while, though I'm not super optimistic at the moment.
