This morning I put sunscreen on my arms for the first time this year and a lifetime of memory jumped up and shouted "yay!  we're going to the beach!"  Sadly, we went to work instead, but I can't shake that feeling of ought to be on vacation.

(I use sunscreen on my face year round, but that's the expensive fancy stuff--the rest of my body gets regular drugstore brand that smells just like sunscreen is supposed to smell)

My new silk veil was waiting for me when I got home last night and the color is perfect with my costume--yay!  It's nice when things work out like that.  It's a little greener than I think of teal being, but that actually makes it a better match.  The care sheet that came with it made me laugh:  "Your veil will frequently be wrinkled."  Ya think?

Wow!  That was a whole bunch of answers!  I thought it was really well done and tied some things together very nicely.  Now we know why Ben was so offended that Sawyer thought he would have killed the rabbit.  Seriously, though, that was some great stuff.

Jacob--why does he need help, if he is so powerful?  Are the Hostiles/Others somehow keeping him captive, like a sacrificial king?  I don't think he was talking to Ben at all in the cabin, I think Ben made all that up and was genuinely shocked/upset that Locke heard Jacob when he couldn't.  I wonder if Jacob is the smoke monster.  Also, I am sure that he will help Locke.  I steadfastly refuse to believe that Locke is dead.  Though as soon as he got between Ben and that pit, I knew he was going in.

The Hostiles:  apparently they do not age, because Richard looks the same.  Mr. Friendly was obviously very, very wrong when he told Jack that they didn't kill people and weren't murderers.  But perhaps he came later, like Juliette.  The Hostiles are native to the island, but the Mittelos Corporation works for them on the outside world, it would appear.  I wonder how many toes they have?

Richard:  is he setting up a revolt against Ben?  Testing him?  Putting him and Locke into competition just to see who has the stronger island mojo?  Also, his eyeliner is hot.

Naomi, Penny and the boat that's sitting offshore:  my suspicion is that this represents the Dharma Initiative trying to get their island back.  When Sun went to her father's office a couple of episodes ago, her father was talking to his partners about building a ship for the Hanso Foundation (whenever a foreign language is not subtitled on Lost, it's worth hitting the internet to see what was said).  I'm guessing that Paik Heavy Industries would build a really big ship.  Widmore Industries, of which Penny's dad is CEO, has been implicated in some kind of involvement with Hanso all along, but whether as supporter or perhaps betrayer, who knows.

Jack and Juliette plotting to fight the Others:  saw that one coming.  Glad they wrapped that up, it was a little annoying in its obviousness.

So I think in the next season or so that the Hanso boat will arrive and the Lostaways will be caught up in the war between Dharma and the Hostiles/Others, and there will be some kind of split within the Hostiles/Others, perhaps between those who were really born on the island and those who were brought in later.  And everybody will fight over access to Jacob, who- or whatever Jacob is.

Anyway good stuff, and I'm so happy to see Terry O'Quinn get to stretch his character out again.

I cannot help but wonder if it is the lingering smell of the sunscreen that makes my brain so happy to think about Lost this morning.

Last year my first day of weeding left me in pain for several days afterwards, but today I feel pretty good.  All those yoga bends and twists have some practical application!  The yard looks quite neat and lovely now.  I'm still going to hold off for a couple of weeks on herbs, I don't trust the weather.

I met our friendly neighborhood pit bull while working on the garden.  I was crouched on the sidewalk ripping out hunks of vinca vine when I heard a dog come up behind me.  I like dogs very much, but when I turned and saw it was a pit bull or pit bull mix I was a little concerned about the fact that I was crouched down--that's not the best way to meet a dog of a strongly hierarchical breed.  So I said, "hi, dog!" and the dog went into an explosion of butt wagging--having not much tail to speak of--and licked my arms all over.  Good puppy!

FYI latest word from Lindelof is that Lost will end 48 episodes from the end of this season. unfortunately, instead of 2 seasons of 24 episodes we're gonna get 3 seasons of 16 episodes. so . . . the good news is that they'll be firming up those story arcs to all come together in 48 (51 as of right now) episodes. the bad news is, it's going to be a little more drawn out than I would've liked.
