Was tired and draggy last night but was so glad I made myself go out to Jerkus Circus!  I'd never been to one before but I would very happily attend more.  The special draw last night was that La Belle Margeaux, Little Red Coquette and What Time Is It Mr. Fox were all performing, but there was just so much entertaining goodness.  A few drinks and some raunchy, so stupid it's clever/so clever it's stupid humor* was exactly what this girl was needing.  Plus you just cannot go wrong with a dancing Mooninite!

*"Boo is such a negative word.  So why do they call them boobies?  Shouldn't it be yaaaaybies?"  omg it killed me.

Back and forth on whether the Lizard Lounge would be a good gothic hafli venue in June.  On the one hand, the carpets would provide a great stage area for the performances, and there's food and drink.  OTOH, I'm not sure about the carpet for open floor dancing.  Oh, and it just occurred to me that the low ceilings would make wings right out, veil iffy, and sword difficult for anybody over about five feet tall.  Huh, guess that's a deal breaker.  Sigh, back to square one.

Was rather relieved to see that the new Black Magic night is debuting not this week but next week, because I can already tell that I don't feel like getting all dolled up and mingling in a crowded club tomorrow night.  Might feel differently after a good night's sleep and possibly check out Toast, but no promises.  Unfortunately I won't be able to go on the 10th, but fortunately that's because I'll be seeing the Pogues.  I'll be very interested to hear what people have to say about the new night.

Oh, speaking of black magic--I contacted a maker of nifty hair falls about creating something for my Voodoo Dolly costume (yeah, it's not til October but I'm obsessing about it now, rather than obsessing about the things that are say next week), and she's very excited about the project.  I had said in my original inquiry that if she was uncomfortable with the voodoo aspect of things--i.e. not wanting to mess with other people's religious beliefs--that I would understand, but it turns out she actually worked in a genuine voodoo supplies shop while in college and thinks it's an awesome idea and not at all exploitative if I do it well--of course she's a Siouxsie fan as well and knows the song.  I'm very happy to have this aspect of the costuming out of my hair (har, har).  I can make falls but other people's are better, and I needed to do something with my hair besides leave it straight.
