belly dance mileage

Last night in Najmat's class, one student was wearing a pedometer because of a study in which she is participating.  It measures steps by the hip swinging back and forth, so naturally a belly dance class is going to throw its mileage off.  Still, we learned at the end of class that our hips, at the very least, did FOUR MILES' worth of movement in an hour and a half, though our feet didn't necessarily travel that much.  No wonder I'm beat when I get home on Tuesdays!
