Jan. 8th, 2007 01:07 pmGot my Dahlal coupon burning a hole in my inbox, and I am so torn between Magdy el-Leisy's meleya leff dvd and Aida Nour's Ghawazee dvd... I want both of them about equally, but since I already have a meleya I should probably get the Magdy el-Leisy one--though by that same argument, I already have a set of hips, so I should probably get the Aida Nour dvd... There's this little demon sitting behind me encouraging me to get both of them, especially since I don't know if I'll be able to make it to Katia's Ghawazee workshops in February. I mean, 25% off is a really good deal...
This weekend I socialized, saw a movie, and danced/did yoga. And I slept enough, too. This is the way it should be.
The movie was Children of Men, which I quite enjoyed. It wasn't perfect, and from a technique standpoint the way it ended bugged the heck out of me, but it was provocative and entertaining. I particularly liked that Kia wasn't just some passive vessel but a fully realized character in her own right. Lots of good characters, really. I think that's the best role I've seen Clive Owen in yet. It's been a long time since I read the book but I think I would agree with the critics who have said that the movie transcends the source material.
My YogaToes arrived last Thursday and I have been wearing them for a bit every day since then--and you know what, I think they work! The pain in the ball of my foot has pretty much cleared up and I'm only feeling a few twinges in my two biggest toes. When I danced yesterday, I went up on pointe and did choo choo shimmies no problem, which I could not do 6 days before. Maybe it's just a coincidence and my foot was getting better anyway, but my feet do feel really good after I use them. I won't question it...
Recombined some gothic costume elements so now I feel like I have a somewhat new look for Saturday's show. Now I just have to figure out the costuming and music for Sunday's show--I kind of want to do a meleya since I've been thinking about it so much, and because it is fun, but my available costuming just isn't quite right. Assuit dress, where are you?
The rain really makes me wish I hadn't forgotten my lunch.

Hmmm, I also have a dahlal coupon...

P.S. I agree with the poster above. Get both videos! :)
