complete and utter tragedy

My 3 1/2 quart Le Creuset round oven just fell off the counter (disturbed by the washing machine going into spin cycle) and cracked like the Liberty Bell.  I am heartbroken, bereft, saddened beyond all reason.  Especially now that I am pricechecking a replacement

edited to add: it seems to be watertight so I have used Le Creuset's customer inquiry form to find out if it's still safe to use... sob...

They have a lifetime warranty. Contact them and see if you can get a replacement sent (my mom has done this several times, I'm told). It's probably not supposed to break, so maybe this qualifies as as something they will replace.

I read through the warranty section at the website and I'm not sure that they would replace it--dropping it off a counter is not "normal stovetop use." And I'd have to pay shipping both ways. But I will follow up on it. Shipping both ways is still less expensive than a new pot, the cheapest I could find this size online was about $130 :-(

Take it back to William-Sonoma and they'll replace it. Really. We took our 3+ year old coffee maker back to them because it started making weird sounds. We got a $150 credit for it and bought another. No questions asked. (Granted, we only did this after a friend of ours, who works there, told us to do it. She said it happens all the time.)
