Poking around in some geneaology stuff, I have found a long-distant ancestress by the name of Tamazine Frost.  If I ever need a pen name or an alias, that's it!  She was born in Suffolk, England, in 1600 and died in Massachusetts in 1654.

What tools are you using to find this stuff? I'm not sure I could, but I'd be interested in finding more of my ancestors.

My aunt did it all--this is all Whitney geneaology. You can find a lot of stuff online if you google a last name and family history or geneology, there are a lot of collaborative research sites. For example, this is the Whitney one: http://www.whitneygen.org/

cool! i've got two neat ones: Relief Houghton, and Sylvanus Rice. I think Mr. Rice might be buried in the cemetery near Cris & SilentQ.

At first I didn't like the name Relief. Now, over the years it has grown on me.

Wow ~ you've really got Massachusetts in your blood! I went on a tour of the House of Seven Gables when we moved here, and the guide said that he was "new" here because his family had only been in MA for 200 years. I gave up on ever being considered a "real" Massachusetts-ian at that point.

We've been doing ancestry research recently too ~ Queen Aaflaeda is one of the interesting names I've found so far. I really love your nom de plume :)

I was surprised to learn how far back in American history that part of the family went--the rest are more recent (the Irish being Potato Famine era, and the Germans I think in the late 1800s as well). They lived in Massachusetts for a while, and then relocated to Maine. I've got an ancestor whose name is on the Bunker Hill Monument (so in theory I could join the Daughters of the American Revolution if I cared to), and one who was held captive by Indians from Canada back in the 17somethings. It's all fascinating stuff!

Queen Aaflaeda is great--she sounds like a belly dancer ;-)
