I am really digging the kinda recent DJ Cheb i Sabbah album La Kahena--everybody's getting back to their North African roots these days!  I'm interested in checking out the remix album as well, but I love that combination of Arabic tonalities and melodies and doumbeks with the more African call and response sing-songiness and the big frame drums.

Seti's at Angell awaiting his ultrasound.  This is to check on the status of his adrenal glands; about a year ago he showed some symptoms of adrenal gland disease, very common in ferrets, but an ultrasound at that time showed both glands to be a normal size, so the vet wouldn't have known which was the affected one.  Generally the right one is the first to go, but not always, so there's no point in operating if you can't tell for sure which one is affected (it would be enlarged).  I don't know whether I am hoping that the ultrasound will still show both within normal parameters and hence we can put off surgery for longer, or whether I am hoping that one gland is obviously affected and so we can do surgery while Seti is a strong four-year-old, rather than waiting until he is older and less likely to bounce right back from surgery.  Poor noodle.  At least this is the right time of year to have a shaved belly, if you are a fur-bearing critter.

I brought a little bag of kibble for him to eat after the ultrasound, in case he doesn't like their brand of kibble, and we joked about how I was packing a lunch for Seti.  I should have put it in my little Lain lunch box.  :-)  We got to see some of the new and improved Angell Memorial, as they opened their new facility this month.  It's still the same building, more or less, but now you go around the back to a shiny new entrance and spacious lobby area.  We have a vet visit scheduled for some vaccinations later this month, I'm very curious to see the new exam rooms.  Because we were just dropping off Seti, we didn't go to the actual waiting area, but apparently they now have separate waiting areas for dogs, cats and small animals/birds, which makes me very happy for two reasons:  one being that I won't have to worry about dogs going after my ferrets, and two being that my sinuses won't be around upset cats.

I hope Ronan is doing ok at home alone.  He was bouncy and playful when we left, I could hear him playing with a jingly toy as we went out the door.

So many options for things to do tonight, and mostly I just want to go home and hug the ferrets...

isn't it sweet

I call my dog Noodle!

A greyhound is kind of like a giant ferret.
