My copy of Virginia--Wa Lamsa min el Alb, the cd with the drum solo I was raving about, arrived yesterday. I continue to rave about the drum solo, but I am more than a little disappointed to learn that the entrance and finale pieces of the first routine are also on Raksit Claribel, which I already own. Ah well--one really inspiring awesome drum solo is worth the price of a cd. And you've got to love the mizmar medley, because the only thing better than a mizmar is a medley of mizmars!
Sold my non-fitting melodias and went to the ebay store to buy some hopefully fitting ones, but she is out of black minis in my size. Sigh. Buying pants shouldn't be this difficult.
Sekhmet rehearsal last night was good; we got the group drum solo underway and the choreography I worked out for the beginning and end will work just fine. I am relieved. Not to keep on harping about the chiropractor, but I can tell there's something really different about my body because I danced barefoot for 2+ hours two nights in a row (plus an hour and a half class in shoes the night before that) and my foot is still happily functional down there at the bottom of my ankle. I figure I should still be careful, but this is so encouraging.
Looking forward to a relatively quiet weekend. I want to clean the house (well, "want" is maybe not the right word) on Saturday and then watch the Preakness, hopefully to see Barbaro win again. After that, a party if I can figure out transportation logistics, then yoga on Sunday and performing at 10:40 Sunday night at the Middle East, featuring the debut live performance of my crazy 7/8 drum solo. Which I should rehearse sometime on Saturday. Yes, this is a relatively quiet weekend.
