sneaky banks
May. 31st, 2008 12:53 pmRecently I transferred my high interest credit card debt to a low interest Discover Card. I've been wondering when I would receive a statement from Discover. Today I went to their website to make sure the transfer had really happened. I learned there that a balance transfer made upon opening the account doesn't count as activity, so you don't get a statement. Sneaky bank--they must rely on people to forget to make payments without the reminder of a statement and then be surprised when the low interest period ends with a hefty remaining balance. I don't think they even provided me with an address for payments, so I'm paying online through their website. I pass this information along by way of general warning.
Today I was looking forward to dancing--my foot aches but would allow it, I think--and seeing the Emperor Norton show tonight, but my sinuses and lungs appear to have other plans that involve moving as little as possible and not being subjected to loud brass instruments. Maybe after another cup of tea I can dance a little, but I don't see going out tonight, especially with getting up early tomorrow morning.
