year in review
Dec. 31st, 2007 04:46 pmI was going to write something all introspective and stuff about 2007, but last night as we were all exchanging new year's good luck wishes to each other at the Middle East, Sahar said to me, "2007 has been a really good year for you!" So I'll just let her words stand, because in many ways it has been a good year. There's only one very bad part that I wish hadn't happened, involving a friend and an accident, but otherwise even the bad stuff has all been a part of moving forward and through the world, a part of continuing to grow, learn and extend myself to places I didn't realize I could reach before.
New Year's resolutions, apart from dance stuff, consist mainly of getting out of debt. I have a fairly aggressive plan that I think can get me to a zero debt balance in about six months, barring any huge vet bills, which of course can never be ruled out with ferrets but I devoutly hope won't be a factor. I will be very broke for a while but I think I can still afford all my dance classes, and maybe some costuming. After that, I can start thinking about occasional travel for workshops, and also look into savings plans beyond my 403B. We're still a long, long way away from being able to own our own home, but living underneath other people grates on me increasingly as time goes by, so once I've got income freed up, I want to start nurturing a nest egg for the future.
Keeping things clean and purging stuff is another goal. I did a lot of that kind of thing over the holiday break and it feels good to look into my closet and know that I can, would and will wear everything in it, to look at my sewing table and see it all clean and organized, etc. This is a nicer way to live.
