Computer shopping

I have come to the sad conclusion that my home desktop system is going to need replacing and/or serious overhauling in the fairly immediate future.  It just can't keep up with the multimedia stuff I'd like it to do, and I'm getting virtual memory failure messages with increasing frequency.  I'm probably going to go to PCs for Everyone as I've shopped from them pretty happily over the years, but I thought I'd ask here first if anybody has a strong positive recommendation for any other vendor.  I'm certainly open to ordering stuff online, though I'd kind of like to talk to a knowledgeable salesperson because I'd like to be sure to get a system that can handle the next release of Windows, but I don't need a superspeedy gaming system or anything. Thanks!
