dear lord what have I done
Nov. 21st, 2006 11:27 amI may be dancing a karshlima at the Athenian Corner on December 14, voluntarily this time. Amira Jamal asked me if I'd be willing to do one in the event that the schedule needs to be juggled around. I said "Well, it would definitely be jumping into the deep end of the pool for me, but I'm game." I forgot to mention the being unable to swim part... Well, I made it through one once before with no prep at all, and this time around Nadira has offered to lend me an Artemis Mourat instructional DVD for Turkish moves, so hopefully I can muddle through again. I wonder what section I'd be giving up, though. Currently I'm assigned to a beledi/cane section and a drum solo/finale section, I'd be sad to lose either of them. Much as I love cane, it would be better for me to keep the drum solo, I think, for the experience of working with live musicians. Not that the cane wouldn't also be with live musicians, but it's not like they're a big Saidi band or anything, I'd probably be doing cane to dabke.
The vet wants to see Ronan, so we're going in on Friday. Strangely, he did not devour his food this morning. There's good and bad sides to that.
I watched that Henson Workshop puppet improv show last night, Puppet Up! It had some very funny moments, but overall, I think improv is generally one of those "you have to be there" things. There was a really wonderful weasel or mink puppet though. And the puppetry was very skillful. They have the stage set up so that you can see the puppeteers working, and the puppets are isolated on a big screen behind them. So it was very cool to see the work that goes on under the scene. I do have it on DVD-R if anybody wants to see it, though it's not all that overwhelming.
I just read at scifi.com that George Takai will be playing Hiro's dad on Heroes. Yay!
