Nov. 1st, 2006 09:35 amIt makes sense that my accent would be tied between Northeast, as that's where I grew up, and Philadelphia, as my parents grew up in Pennsylvania. edited to add: for some reason, the little bars aren't showing up here, so you'll have to take my word for it that my accent is equally Northeast and Philly. But if anybody ever assumes I'm from Wisconsin, I'll shoot myself. And I've lived in Chicago--everybody in Chicago immediately pegged my accent as being from somewhere else. And I never, ever refer to carbonated beverages as pop!
A Canadian quiz would be interesting to take. Everybody in Canada assumed I was from mid-northern Ontario until I told them I was from the US. I took that as a compliment ;-)

Your Result: The Inland North You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop." | |
