No Oddville Vaudeville tonight, for obvious reasons. (well, obvious if you live in the area. that's wintertime event planning in New England for you...) I'm sad because I was psyched up to perform, but I also feel like I/we will do a better job next weekend with a little more prep time. I was too wiped out on Friday to do any rehearsing, and then yesterday I was being extreme with the beer, so not the best springboard for performing.
Thursday's show with the Ominous Collective was loads of fun, despite technical difficulties that left me stranded on stage with no music for what felt like eternity (probably only 5-6 minutes really, but that's a long time, especially posed with your arms above your head while standing on one foot with your eyes closed). That was my first set--it wasn't terrible, but it certainly could have been better. My second set, dancing with wings to Qntal's Ad Mortem Festinamus and with attitude to Siouxsie's Arabian Knights, did rock the house if I do say so myself. Steve Robot had this amazing thing to say about me: "In a time when people who are a little weird are compared to homophobic nazi psycho killers, words like 'goth' and 'gothic' have gotten a bad reputation -- but if people wanted to learn the darkly-magical and much more real definitions of these words, I would bring them to watch you dance. :)" Words can hardly express how touched I am by that.
I was going to write more about the show and about the beerfest, but the bathtub is full now. Today ended up being shovelling, breakfasting, yoga, and now a hot bath and laziness and perhaps a chocolate martini or two for the rest of the day. Not so bad, all things considered...
