I put my Ideas into action today at the Dance Complex, and I think I'm on to something! I wasn't sure if the music would work but it works very, very well. I have also discovered that I can do floorwork with my wings, hooray once again for yoga because my quads aren't sore at all. Funny, I really wouldn't dream of doing floorwork for my traditional stuff but I like it integrated into the goth stuff. My arms are very achy from swirling them wings though.

This was the first time in a couple of months that I've danced somewhere with mirrors. And it was a good experience. I kept being struck by how darn goth I was looking, which is good since I'm working on gothic music--meddevi, I thought of you and the "you know it when you see it" definition of gothic belly dance. I'm coming to think it really is more about attitude than fusing in separate movement per se, although I definitely do bring in some club moves or execute some regular movements differently. I'm still thinking it all through, but I'm coming to think of gothic bellydance as less of a fusion and more of a subgenre born of a specific time and social space. That would certainly help explain the judges' reaction to what I did at the Belly Dance Awards. Anyway, something to ponder.

Seti threw up several times this morning, which is a matter for some concern. He seemed to be ok afterwards, but I'm keeping an eye on him. Ferrets don't really throw up that often, unlike dogs and cats. It's somewhat possible that he ate a clove stolen from an empty baklava wrapper--it's not poisonous to ferrets, but I would imagine the equivalent weight of cloves would make a person feel a bit upset in the tummy. Poor noodle.

There is nothing like cutting twenty-some strips of glitterdot fabric to make one think "gee, owning a rotary cutter would be a good idea."

But, my hunch that the strips of glitterdot would translate into the kind of sleek tassels I had in mind for the ankh corset belt was correct, and now I am much, much happier with the belt. The fluffy tassels were cool in their own right, but not on that belt.

Seti seems fine, all systems are performing normally, so hopefully it was just something irritating his stomach and he's over it now. Owning ferrets can be a hard thing--one little thing out of the ordinary, and you're foreseeing the absolute worst. Because unfortunately sometimes that's what it is. But knock on wood, that's not the case now.
