I trekked through the snow yesterday out to Angell to pick up Pan's new medications.  One of the women working at the pharmacy there said "you came all the way out here in this weather for a ferret?"  WTF?  Why would someone with an attitude like that be working at an animal hospital like Angell?  If she'd been on my side of the counter I think I would have punched her.  As it was, I just calmly said "Of course I did.  He needs the medication."

Anyway, the Carafete is definitely helping his appetite and I would say he was showing less signs of pain not long after starting on the Carafete.  He had his first dose of generic Pepcid AC this morning.  Luckily he thinks all of these medicines taste good, so we don't have to fight to get him to take them.  His schedule (and hence mine) has become more complicated though, since he can't have the Pepcid AC and the pediapred after the Carafete, since that coats the stomach lining and would inhibit the absorbtion of the other meds.  So now I give him Pepcid and pediapred when I wake up, then Carafete after I finish my breakfast, then 20 minutes later feed him his breakfast.  This is okay (apart from being time-consuming) on weekdays, but will not be so much fun on weekends when I will have to basically reset my alarm every 20 minutes for an hour or so in what will be the middle of my night of sleep.  M offered immediately to take care of either the early meds or the feeding, but I always wake up anyway when it's time to take care of Pan, so it wouldn't really do any good.  This just goes on for two weeks, so that's not too bad.  And no question that Pan's comfort is worth it.

We won't really know until the course of medication is done whether Pan's ulcer has healed or whether he never had an ulcer in the first place and the pain is from the lymphoma, but at least the Carafete seems to be giving him some relief already.

Seti went bonkers for Ritz crackers the other night.  He climbed M to get to them.  We gave him just a little piece of cracker, and from then on every time he walked into the living room, we'd call out "Seti want a cracker?"  I think his response, could he speak, would have been "Stop taunting me!  Yes I want a cracker!"

If I needed another reason to dislike George Bush, now I have a bred-in-the-bone reason to dislike him all the more...
