Under the Sand, or Sous le Sable (imdb, netflix, but the reviewers are very stupid at both*), is one of the best movies I have ever seen, while it is simultaneously one of the most difficult to watch. I think I empathized with Charlotte Rampling's character Marie entirely too much and I won't be entirely all okay until M comes home. Hopefully I will be able to believe that he is really there.

*slow? plotless? well, yes, but that's irrelevant to the kind of movie this is. Those reviewers have had their human empathy overcome by their ADD.

Gosh, I so love that movie.

I only read imdb and netflix reviews so as to poke fun at them. I think this is a bad habit of mine. The most recent prize was the netflix person who was shocked SHOCKED! at the homosexual content in a Gregg Araki film (Mysterious Skin), which (for a change) was pretty well described in the blurb. I mean, I could understand if the person was allergic to Slowdive and rented an Araki film unaware that he always uses it in his soundtracks, but ...
