so painfully tired, despite oversleeping a half hour this morning... Yesterday we went to a family wedding, Mathew's family. HIghlights included me and my future sister-in-law dancing together to Abba's Dancing Queen (I am NOT an Abba fan. I was, however, full of wine), meeting a very cool and spunky old aunt of Mathew's, and me and Mathew square-dancing to that dance mix of "Cotton-Eyed Joe" and pretending we were on one of the planets in Firefly. We were either Simon and Kylie, or Wash and Zoe, depending on which of us you asked.

The priest at the Catholic ceremony was a profoundly arrogant prick who lectured everyone on how prone we are to failure and how much better godly folks are. Of course, that's what he is *supposed* to do, but it served to remind me how little I care for organized religion. Especially when it's been organized inside a very stuffy church on a very hot day.

Saturday I spent $125 on a pair of sandals and I don't regret it a bit. I bought the Dansko Anais model, and I am in love with these shoes. With my foot problems it's hard for me to find stylish looking shoes that don't kill me, and these are amazingly comfy. They have a heel even! Finding them was a challenge though. First I went to that clog place on Mass Ave in Cambridge, where I was happy to see a 40% off sale--but of course, none of my size in black (saleswoman: "we have it in tan... but that won't work, will it." black-clad me: "nope!"). So I walked to Harvard Square to go to Berk's (with a stop by Marathon Sports to pick up new arch supports, but of course they did not have them in my size in any color). At Berk's the Danskos were 25% off, but no, none in my size. As a measure of last resort I went to the Tannery. I hate the Tannery because the sales people are painfully pushy and it's full of icky people generally speaking. But the Tannery is my friend now, because they had the sandals in my size. Not on sale, of course, but I left the house expecting to pay full price, and I came home having done that.

Then I took the bus from Harvard Square to Arlington Center to Playtime to buy frames. Playtime has a great selection of pre-made frames for reasonable prices, and I found two suitable frames for some artwork for the bathroom. I'm not sure what part of my brain was thinking that I could easily carry two 14x18 frames, a box of shoes, my purse and an iced tea. But somehow I did carry all this stuff home.

Then after all that walking I went out dancing at Curses. Cusraque twice told me that if I had a livejournal I should put in a positive review to help spread the word about it--I'm too braindead to say much, but it was great, u should go. Then we went late to a housewarming party and closed it down--I do feel bad about arriving so late, I won't do it again, I promise :)

And that was my weekend, plus gaming on Friday where I got to be creepy. Apparently I am our group's Riddick, the Pitch Black Riddick and not the kinder, gentler Chronicles Riddick. Aw yeah.

Hrm, the sandals were cheaper than I'd assumed, and I need a pair of shoes for wearing around the house. Hrm.... time to make a new budget. :)

I love the Anais model but can't yet justify another Dansko buy .. though, my cheap dressy sandals are on the way out .. hmm.

The red is tempting but the black will be a lot more useful .. so they're really comfortable even with those heels, huh?

I'm still so happy that I got some of these things last summer. They just recently reached a whole new level of comfort - even better than they were before, suddenly. Pretty cool.

The Tannery does suck. What's this place on mass ave you mention?

You're getting me all hot.
