Seven Sunless Days put on an amazing show with the addition of [livejournal.com profile] mvoid on drums, and were rewarded for their awesomeness by making it to the next round of Emergenza shows! yay!!! M thanks all of you who attended and deeply appreciates your support. It really meant a lot to him to see friends in the crowd, looking out from the stage to see us all there. He's going to find out tonight when the next show will be--I suspect it won't be until after the new year, since I think Emergenza has round 1 shows scheduled pretty much up to christmas.

Serious props to [livejournal.com profile] mvoid for his drumming--he made it sound like the RM1X was following him. It really is a wonderful expansion to the band's sound, and in a way it highlights the electronics more to have the organic sound of the drums next to them. I'm looking forward to hearing lots more of this!

It was odd being out at a general rock show, something I haven't really done in a long time. Most events I go to are either goth or belly dance/Arabic in nature, which I'd say have more in common with each other than they do with the rock crowd. For one thing, the bathrooms stay cleaner at the former events ;) The other bands ran a range of styles, but one thing they mostly had in common was that they were way too over-thought and technically oriented--there was a distinct lack of vitality and soul in the room much of the night. I liked Tim Heroux and his band--although they had a bit of a one trick pony feel to them, they were entertaining. And I sincerely found the crow makeup hairtossing goth metal band at the end of the night (can't remember their name) very refreshing--they were young and they pulled every cliche in the book, but you knew their hearts were in it and they weren't overintellectualizing anything (despite singing one song in what they said was German). Also, the guys in the band Cutthroat Island are jerks--one of them actually *stood* on the RM1X, breaking some knobs off, and didn't apologize or offer to pay if it was broken, even when confronted directly by M. Unfortunately, they're continuing on as well, but hopefully not on the same night as SSD next time.

Happily ran into my brother and [livejournal.com profile] crematia13 on the sidewalk outside the Middle East after the show--they'd been seeing Scissorfight downstairs. We should run into each other at odd hours more often!

OK, now to dance, bake an apple pie because I feel like baking and I have a bunch of apples, sew a skirt, and wait for M to come home from an Emergenza band meeting so that we can have an actual evening together like normal married people do. Yay!
